Good morning! It is a glorious morning here, the sun has just risen over the mountains and it is sparkling on the new fallen snow. It looks like a pretty Christmas card. I have so much to show you and instead of one very long post I have broken it down into several. Here is the link to my first Christmas post. A Christmas Welcome.
Today I want to share with you my Christmas Tree and tell you about the ornaments that I have made for it. I have spent very little money on my Christmas decor this year and that’s what my blog is all about. Having a beautifully decorated home for pennies. As I said in my last post I have chosen blue and red for my holiday colors. I always like to be different and try new things.
I love using a white tree it seems to really let the decorations shine. I used an old basket that I had for the stand and then tucked a blue and white crocheted scarf that I made around it. My mother gave me the Santa helpers several years ago and thought that they looked perfect under the tree. I added an extra set of white lights to the tree which I tied white tulle around for a fluffier fuller look.
I had a really good time crafting these fun stick ornaments. I just picked up the sticks when I was taking one of my autumn walks. I also chose to use plaid in my decor this year so I used a plaid ribbon for the garland. I’m a blue and white girl so I embraced it fully this year and added a little red into the mix.
I made miniature houses out of cereal boxes and used red and blue glitter. My theme this year is a much more jolly theme than in the past. I broke out my Santa’s which I haven’t used for some time. The only things that I bought for the tree this year were a few dollar store ornaments that had a plaid background and a woodsy theme. They were just perfect.
I love using my shinny bright vintage ornaments.
I added some birds and their nests and then painted pine cones in red and blue then attached ribbons in contrasting colors.
I am of Scandinavian heritage so I like to throw that into the mix of my holiday decor. I found this wonderful pattern on Pinterest. I printed the pattern onto white card stock. They were pretty easy to make so I made several to use throughout my home. You can punch or cut designs in them or leave them blank. Many of my ideas have come from my Pinterest site here is the link.
I used as much blue and red on the tree to help pull out my color scheme. A basket of Sinny Brite ornaments lay among paper in a basket. Some are just to delicate to hang. I have many from my dad’s Christmas tree when he was very young so they are very precious to me especially since he has passed.
My feather tree shines with blue, gold and silver decor sitting in an olive bucket.
There is more to come in the next couple of weeks. Have a beautiful day!

Jo, this is a bit of a different look for you and I love it for a change! You know how crazy I am about plaid. Last year I had plaid ribbons on my tree. This year the plaid is in the entry so the tree has a different look. All is darling, but I adore your twig ornaments! You should hop over to Carol’s and link this to a Homemade Christmas. 🙂
