Some Think I’m CRAZY!

Happy Birthday to the USA and Canada!

I want to announce the opening of my new blog Healing Wings!

I felt like this broken cup.

Several years ago a sweet blogging friend was helping me through some deeply troubling times and she made the comment that she could see me one day helping others who had been through the same tough times that I had been going through. I remember thinking me! No way. Thank you sweet Kris from Junk Chic Cottage blog for helping me see that I still had good inside of me. Now, it’s me that is counciling and helping others through light and energy sessions from the special spiritual gifts that I have been givien.  I never thought I would ever be on the other side of this time in my life, but I got through it a changed women! Stronger, with much more wisdom.

At Healing Wings blog I share my spiritual journey. If you are interested in spiritual things then you will want to follow along as I share many spiritual experiences that I have had in the past as I have dealt with narcissistic abuse.

If you are sensitive, have a great deal of empathy for others and have always seemed to know before the door bell rings then you may be a sensitive empath like myself.  I never felt comfortable sharing my spiritual experiences until now and that’s because the spirit said that it is time. You will feel nothing but love and light from my posts and how to develope your gifts even if you don’t think you have them.

You do! We all do!

Now, some people may think that I am a little crazy to refinish a piece of furniture that is brand new. lol   I bought a lovely hutch a couple of years back and never really like the look of it because it was just too shiny and new. Have you ever had that problem?

Can you see what I mean about the perfectness of this piece. I just have to have some chippiness in it. I used the same process that I always do. For those of you who are new here is the link to a post for adding the perfect distress to any piece of furniture.

Refinishing the hutch didn’t cost me a dime I already had the paint and the wallpaper was pieces that I have saved gifted from a friend. The backing fabric is from an old Simply Shabby Chic quilt that I tore apart. I save many things like this because I know that I will use them again.

I love how it turned out and I am so comfortable with it now and love changing up the decor to make her beautiful! Plus, she fits in with the rest of my furniture.

Here is a close up of the wood and the wall paper. I used Mod Podge to glue the wallpaper on. You can see that I left some of the drips and that there is a lot of texture.

I really love how the backing turned out. I will inter change the backing from time to time. It is fun to change colors up depending on the season.

I hope that you are all enjoying your 4th of July holiday!

  1. I know how you feel! Love the “chippyness” and cottage feel you brought to the hutch, and I would have done the same. This year, I knew it was time to buy new furniture, but I could not get myself to do so; instead, I purchased cotton white slipcovers for my old furniture for spring/summer and purchased burgundy & smokey blue for fall and winter. I, also, bought pillow covers from E-Bay to reflect the seasons, and I so happy I did not go for the new furniture look and love the comfy, homey feel of my covers that I get to change as the seasons change here in Delaware. I adore what you did to the hutch! I will be following you on your new blog, too–so excited about that!!!! Happy 4th!
(I spend the day outside using that ReNew as seen on TV product on my window boxes, and they turned out great! Next my white picket fence is coming in so that I can live in my cottage bubble and watch Hallmark movies all weekend (next week is Christmas in July on Hallmark)! May nothing but good things happen to you this year and every one else!

    • You are such a delight! I’m sure that you cottage is as adorable as you are. Why buy new stuff when you can change it up like you are doing. I like the idea. I get tired of my old look and love a change and what you are doing is perfect!
Thanks for telling me about Christmas in July at Hallmark! It’s my fav. I’m sappy that way. lol
      xoxo Jo

  2. Jo, you are perfect for sharing inspiration with others! You radiate a caring spirit!! Now for the cabinet, Oh my girl, it’s hard to believe that it is the same piece. Love how it turned out. You’ve got me contemplating about adding wallpaper to the back of the large cabinet in my entry. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
