Spring is Here to Stay!

Welcome to all of you. I am so happy that you have come to check out my sweet little cottage Shabby Lane.  I feel so happy and loved here and just can hardly wait to share it throughout the seasons.

I have some eye candy for you and I hope that you will receive some inspiration for your own homes. Most of the things that I decorate with in Shabby Lane are all used, vintage and antique items. I like many of you are on a very tight budget so I try to look out of the box to change my decor often. I get bored with it so the change comes often and through paint, reorganizing, sewing and using my imagination. I use Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook, and many magazines and decor books to get me thinking. One thing I must tell you though, I do not look at these before bed because then I get so charged up I can’t sleep until I have made changes. lol

Just a warning if you don’t know by now I am very passionate about Romantic Country style. There was a time in my life when I was raising my sons that I did not have one ruffle or piece of lace in the house. So my home did not look like this in the past,  in fact it’s only been the last three years that I have embraced this style and I love it. It truly is me!

nest in terra cotta

Everything that I used in this year’s decor was shopped around my house and either remade or refigured in some way.  I love the patina on a weathered terracotta pot.

I printed off cute tags to hang around the house from The Graphic Fairy’s website where I am a premium member. I they also have free printables and you can find some on my Pinterest account as well.

cupboard sheep

I made these darling sheep from materials I had around the house. I first saw them in Jeanne D’arc Living April 2017 magazine and just knew I had to give them a try. I will be celebrating my third year of blogging next week and I will be giving away a set of three. So stay tuned to details.

white sheep

I also will be posting a tutorial on how to make these cute fluffy sheep.

Where would spring be without bunnies?

washi tape

I love to use washi tape, can you tell?

I collect sheep they are an important reminder to me to seek after the one who needs my help. As you can see the three sheep in front with the colored bows one is green. I always have one child or friend who needs a special prayer or friendly word or both and this is a great reminder to me.  I am a deeply spiritual women and most things in my home have a meaning to me.

This soft lavender is one of the new colors that I am using in Shabby Lane Cottage this year. I will be showing you more of it in up coming posts.

These lace eggs were really fun and easy to make. I left some of the lace white and tea stained the others.

I didn’t know that I got into the picture here if I did I would have cleaned up a bit! lol

heart rock

I had a new old friend leave this sweet heart-shaped rock on my doorstep. It’s such a friendly gesture. Thank you Susan my soul sister.

I hope that you enjoyed this post. I am trying to beef up my followers on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, and my blog so please follow along and invite others to join if you have enjoyed it.

Thank you!

  3. Jo, I can just feel your happiness through your writing of this post and that makes me happy. You had a hard year last year, and I do believe you have arrived. I so love your sheep collection (and that little set you made – wow!), and its connotation. I am loving that lavender! I think I want to interject a similar hue at some point into my new bath, as the greys and whites in there easily lend themselves to blending with it. Thanks for sharing all your spring. I have missed spring through all our remodeling, but hope to get my juju back soon.

    • Dear Rita, I think that some lavender would look just gorgeous in your bathroom with the grays. Beautiful! I am in space that I have not been in for years. It really feels good to be back into the beautiful things in life. Have a wonderful week.

  5. Very lovely montage of photos. I do know what you mean about boys in the house, and it is nice to have a bit of lace and fru-fru out now here and there. Somehow socks and nerf balls flying through the air, kept my pretties at a minimum for years. Grins, and thanks for the lovely chance to visit your home and ideas. Sandi

  6. Jo, I believe this is the sweetest and most romantic spring decor post I’ve seen to date. Your sheep are adorable. I love the lavender chair and can’t wait to see more of that color on your blog. The lacey eggs, the cute tags (isn’t Graphics Fairy the best?), and bunnies. All of it is wonderful. Kudos! Hugs, Nancy

  7. Jo, you certainly have the knack of turning anything ordinary into the extraordinary! I love your sweet lambs. I adore and collect them as well. I always think of our Savior and him wanting us to feed his sheep. Thanks for sharing with SYC.
