A Romantic Cottage Bedroom

Welcome my dear blogging friends! I am so excited to show you my Romantic Cottage Bedroom.  It is simple and small but it allows me to put all of my furniture and pretties in it. It truly is a lovely comfortable room.

bed

I love how the sun shines through the window and hits the bed, it really adds the light that I was so in need of. Here my bed shines with it’s painted chalk paint headboard that I covered panels with fabric for added texture, and Rachel Ashwell Shabby Chic cover and shams.

bedpillows

I have homemade pillow covers and a white quilted coverlet and shams to complete the set.

large mirror

On the closet door are two huge mirrors. They really make the room look bigger and brighter than it really is.  The only thing I don’t like about them is the reminder of what I look like first thing in the morning! lol

dresser

I use my antique dresser as a nightstand and it works out perfect.

bedroom corner

Using painted shutters and a vintage metal butler tray really adds interest to the room.

The back of the shutters are painted white so I can change the color combination in my room at anytime. I’m big on changing things around, then I don’t get bored with my decor.  Shutters and a dress form add that great Romantic Cottage look that I love.

wall of frames

At the end of my bed is a blank wall that I turned into a frame and picture wall.

bed shelf

Above my bed is a shelf that I filled with precious items and a few frames. I love the color of the room with its two toned paint.  Well that is the end of the bedroom tour. Stay tuned for the sitting room tour and some Easter specials.

Have a great day!

xoxo Jo

  1. What a beautiful cozy room. Filled with all the treasures I love. Especially the shutters. I will try to find some for my room and paint them different colours on both sides. A greet idea.

  2. I love your antique dresser/side table! Alas no room in our apartment for such a thing, but doesn’t stop me from coveting!! Your bedroom looks so pretty and the light is amazing.

  3. You did a fabulous job creating a beautiful cottage-style bedroom. I love the piece you are using as a nightstand, and the shutter is a gorgeous shade of pink. You have given me many ideas for my own bedroom. Thanks!

  4. I love your sweet little bedroom, are all the old photos you have around relatives of yours, I noticed you had quite a large picture of a lady in your last post of your kitchen. I love old pictures.

    • Hi Pauline, thank you for your visit. Most of the photos are from my family but the large lady is not. I found her in a Junk store and was told that she was from a farming community that my children’s father’s family came from so I snapped her up. I find myself often wondering about her life as a pioneer in Blackfoot Idaho. The photo above her is her parents, of course they had to come with her. lol Have a lovely weekend.

  7. Your bedroom is so charming. I just got a new bed and I studied how you created your shabby chic/romantic look. That is what I’m going for in my bedroom. Thank you for sharing at the Snickerdoodle Create~Bake~Make link party!

  8. You always have the ability to turn the ordinary into a beautiful, feminine quaint cottage. I also live in old cottage but I live with my husband and I have to keep the florals, ruffles and lace to a minimum. He won’t abide pink so I envy you!

  9. Thank you Sheryl for your sweet comment. I raised 3 boys and our walls reeked of testosterone so I know what you are feeling. Your time will come when you can add a little pink into your home. Start with a little pillow cover or even a vase. Just add it a little at a time and your hubby will start to like his feminine side.
    Good Luck! Jo

    • For the time being I am using turquoise with a tiny bit of pink and green in our shabby chic bedroom. It is the most feminine room in our house. I do not use florals. Rachel Ashwell simply shabby chic had a tan white and blue Matelasse print. He is ok with that!I knew that I couldn’t do that and florals too. We do what we must to have a little bit to ourselves.
