First things first. I have to right up front apologize for the terrible quality of my photos today. The camera I usually use for some reason does not want to download my pictures onto my computer. So I am using an older camera that does not seem to have the quality that I like, but I think that you can at least get an idea of what I have been doing.
It has been so cold and snowy here in Bountiful Utah that I don’t want to even get out of bed in the mornings! Soon after Christmas decor came down up came my sweet little Valentine decor. I find that Valentine’s day for me anyways is a very sweet bright spot to the winter dull drums of January and February. Being that I have a romantic theme going on in my home it makes it quite easy to transition in a few lovely hearts into my decor.
A few love letters and a hanging heart make the mail box a lovely spot for a Valentine theme.
I made a few lace hearts and printed some vintage looking Valentines from The Fairy Graphics (their website has so many wonderful printables to choose from) Then I just used my glue gun to glue them on this old grapevine wreath. Nice and easy. Cost zero!
I added a few hearts and angel wings on my coat racks.
A Valentine vignette dresses up the farmhouse table.
Stacks of wooden boxes and trunks in front of some old shutter doors makes for a perfect place for a Valentine display.
I bought a cloche to put my parents memorabilia in from their wedding 67 years ago. The crown is the one that Mom wore with her wedding dress and the chalkware bride and groom was on the top of their wedding cake. Then I put their wedding picture behind. It makes for a very lovely tribute to my parents.
Does this book look familiar to any of you. I received this in my Christmas stocking many years ago when I was 15. It was a very moving love story back in the late sixties.
Poor mans silver candle holders with a string of fair lights and a sweet bust makes for a lovely romantic scene on the fireplace mantle.
I would love to hear about what you do to decorate for Valentine’s Day!
Have a wonderful week!
xoxo Jo

Jo this is all so romantic and pretty! I must confess I put out Dove foil wrapped heart candies and a few collected vintage velvet heart candy boxes out and that’s about it for Valentines Day. But on Valentines Day I will receive pink or red roses and that’s always festive. Enjoyed your photo tour💕

Hi Kris, yes, I think that Love Story was the movie of our time when we were such soft youth looking forward to what lied in story for us in the future. Ali MacGraw truly sent the fashion world on a whirl. I always loved her style and dressed much like her in high school kindof Twiggy/BoHo. lol Your bathroom is sooooooo beautiful! I haven’t had a bath in over 5 years. I had better explain, just showers. lol Big change coming for me, I will know today then I’ll give you the lowdown. Cross my fingers. Have a wonderful week.

I feel the same about Valentine’s Day; it certainly does help get through the winter days that are some times dark and dreary, but I always regard this time of year as “pre-spring” since everything is getting ready to sprout so soon! I love the vintage feel of your Valentines, and Valentine’s Day is the perfect day to celebrate the sacred heart of Mary–love the Madonnas you have!! Thanks so much for the tour-everything is perfect!

Your photos look great from my end so I wouldn’t know you had a different camera if you hadn’t mentioned it. I don’t decorate for anything besides Christmas and even that is minimal any more. I used to do more when our kids were still at home but since we’ve moved into the apartment there isn’t room to store any extra decorations. I’ll just have to visit you and admire yours!

Under the bed is a great idea – IF our bed wasn’t already teetering with all the books stuffed under there!

How sweet and sentimental, Jo. Love the parental cloche tribute. That book immediately sparked memories of being a teen and going to the theater to see that movie! I remembering having a coat and hair much like Ali MacGraw’s back in the day. 🙂

I remember seeing Love Story with my boyfriend (future husband). I thought Ryan O’Neill was so cute. Your home is, indeed, the perfect environment for romantic valentine decoration, and you do it so well. Where do you find the ballet slippers?

Hi Nancy, I found the ballet slippers at Etsy for $10.00 a pair. I thought that was a bargain. Have a beautiful weekend.
