Hello and welcome to Anne’s Attic – design! Today I want to share with you a different pumpkin that I found in the pumpkin patch. lol I had a square piece of fabric that I has going to make into a fabric pumpkin then the idea hit me ! Light Bulb!
Now, who knows maybe others have hit on this idea but it was new to me. Here is how I made them.
Here is what you will need.
- Square piece of fabric of your choice, any size.
- Scissors
- Thread
- Needle
- Glue gun
- Poly stuffing
- Dried beans
- Choice of stem and embellishments
I found that you can find stems right in your own drawers or gardens. I used clothes pins, pegs, a piece of grapevine wreath. Almost anything will do when using your imagination. I did have some stems from last years pumpkins to use.
First of all I cut a scrap of white eyelet lace fabric in a square. Follow the red thread (for your use only, I would have used white). Cut your fabric as big as you want your pumpkin.
Sew a large gathering stitch in a circle, making a large circle on the fabric, then pull the thread until you have made a small pouch. Now it is ready for the stuffing.
Depending on the size of the pumpkin you are going to make depends on how many beans to add. I used one cup.
On top of the dried beans stuff the pouch with poly stuffing to your desired amounts.
When you have pulled the gathering stitches tight it should look like this with four corners that flap out on each end. Those will be your leafs to the pumpkin.
Next, take your stem and put hot glue on the bottom of it and push down in the middle of the pouch. Push down the corners and you will have your leaves. If you want to be really creative you could paint the leaves or even do some embroidery on them.
I wanted to make some lacy ones so this is what I came up with after embellishing them.
This little tiny pumpkin is my very favorite. I would love to hear back on how yours turn out. Have a great time creating!!!
xx hugs, Jo

I have been wondering if working on fall is too early, but now I know not–thanks for the go-ahead! I can see using all sorts of scraps of fabric for the pumpkins: velvet, lace, burlap, calico, etc to make these and all sorts of stems that can work: twigs, cinnamon sticks, grapevine scraps, etc. Thanks, again, for the inspiration and the welcome to the “it’s okay to work on fall now” go-ahead!!! Fall and Halloween is truly the most wonderful time of the year!
