Welcome my dear friends To Anne’s Attic – design. Just to clear up any confusion my given name is Joanne and because I go by Jo to most of my family and friends I decided to use the latter part of my name anne as part of naming my blog. Anne’s (say it like Annie’s) Attic – design. I always wanted to go by Annie but what can you do when family gives you your nickname from birth? You Just go with the flow.
I have been giving a pick me up or slight makeovers to different parts of my little nest. It seems like when I added my antique sofa and chair the domino effect started. So here are a couple of the changes or pick me ups that I have made.
I added some soft aqua to my bathroom. New towels and a lovely soft rug.
Going along with the floral theme that I started this Spring I changed out the curtain that hides all of my Christmas decor in the kitchen. Nothing like a sweet row of lace to give it a lady’s look. It’s starting to have a little Boho look.
My favorite place to go junk’n is my little shop inside of Lost and Found Thrift. They had just received this queen size bedspread that was hand knitted! It was perfect to go on the seat of my new antique sofa. I just can’t believe that someone would actually let this go. I really appreciate the hours and hours of work that go into this kind of project and I will take care of it like I was the one who made it. The spread was still on a hanger and wrapped in a plastic bag that came from the dry cleaners. The tag said 1973. It could have been made before, I’m not sure how old it is. I am so happy it has come to my house. I got a couple of other items that I will share on my next post.
My ever abused workbench got a new look and I think that she is very happy about it, I know I am. lol For the top I put white oil cloth and ran a white cloth tape measure along the side. It truly is handy. The top is a hollow core door thrown over the top of two white cubbies on each end. Going with my floral theme I made a skirt out of a great floral turquoise cotton. My dear sewing machine after a forty-three year love affair bit the dust. Hopefully I will be able to get her fixed. I used fabric glue to make the skirt and the curtain in the kitchen. It works just as good as a sewing machine sometimes.
I purchased 2 reading lights in a soft pink no less from Target. Perfect match and they give a lot of light that I needed. I even painted some of my cubbie drawers white, they match much better now. Putting my green and blue bottle collection on the green drawer really gave it sparkle. Under the curtain are lots of drawers that are filled with crafting supplies. So everything is very handy.
Until next time!
xx Jo

Wow! What lovely changes you made! I am loving your craft table. . .and the idea of running a tape measure around the top is so clever, and a “steal-worthy” one. The bedspread is gorgeous, and how lucky it came to you. I too, found one at an estate sale a couple of years ago, and it is a treasure. It’s sad that no one wanted to keep it, but you know, it may not be to someone’s taste and they pass on it even though it belonged or was made by a loved one.

Thank you for your visit. I am a very sentimental type girl. My Mom gave away things that I would have died for, she just didn’t see the value I did. Everyone is surely different. At least these people didn’t throw them in the trash as many people do, it makes me sick that many things end up in the landfill. I will give my things away before I am to old to have someone else do it.

You definitely scored big time with that knitted bedspread – it never ceases to surprise me at the number of people out there that have absolutely no appreciation for such things. Lucky you found it and gave it a great home.
