Decorating with Florals Part 2

Have you ever looked around your home and noticed how many flowers there are whether it be a print on a throw pillow, a picture hanging on a wall, a bouquet of flowers brought in from the garden or a bouquet of artificial flowers in a jar.

I think that we try to bring the out-of-doors in our homes. Being that I do most of my work in doors I miss that commune with nature, especially in the winter time. Many of you have big lovely yards and gardens to enjoy and work the soil with. In the home that I raised my children in we had a fourth of an acre in lawn and gardens. I loved the times that my children and I spent out their planting, weeding and watering. It brought a lot of togetherness as well as it being a great teaching tool for my children.

In that home I had a lovely rose garden, I planted a rose-bush for important people in my life. A beautiful pink rose bush for my daughter, a handsome yellow for my oldest son, an amazing yellow-orange for the second son, and a soft lavender rose for my youngest son, plus many others. The children loved to look at their bush and admire them. I chose the colors by their personalities. Fun memories. I have five rose bushes and two mini rose bushes in my tiny garden. I can see them from my kitchen window, it is a lovely sight.

I walked around my nest and was not surprised to see beautiful patterns of our out-of-doors. Here is how I bring the outside in. Enjoy!

  2. I do miss being about to go out to the garden and pick flowers to bring in to enjoy…one of the drawbacks to apartment life. Looks like you have lots of flowers in your space!

  6. I loved the story about the different color rose bushes you planted for your children! Bringing fresh flowers inside is always a nice touch. I seldom do it here because I use so many faux flowers inside. That way they last forever! Ha!

  7. Good morning Jo! I am so pleased to meet you and thank you for coming to visit me! What a great honor it is to have you come to my post! I so love that settee of yours that I’ve seen on Carol’s and Jemma’s blog, and now I see more of your happy home! Flowers are a must chez moi; I have opted for fresh flowers these days and though they whither, I just go get more, or my sweet husband surprises me with a bouquet!

I wish you happiness and creativity as you celebrate your one and fabulous life!
